Maui and the giant fish, Summer Learning Journey !!!

Welcome back Blog buddies, I have been a little bit lazy when it's come to blogging. Anyway today I looked at the category " In the beginning "on the summer learning journey. I had to read this short story here. It was the story about how New Zealand was created.

In this short story I learnt that:
1. Maui covered his fish hook in his own blood
2. he hid in the hull of the Waka
3. Maui had a lot of brothers

Some other story's I have heard of  that include Maui are:
How Maui defined  the Goddess of death
How Maui found the secret of fire
How Maui slowed the sun

I liked this activity because I am Maori, and it made me think more about were i'm from.
I would recommend doing this because all the activity's are fun !
Stay tuned for more, Bye bloggers

  1. Kia ora Abby,

My name is Megan, and I will be one of the people blogging with you this summer for the Summer Learning Journey.

You have shared some awesome facts about Maui. I really liked your fact about how Maui covered his Grandmother's fishing hook in his own blood which attracted the big fish. I admire Maui's determination to follow his dreams of becoming a great fisherman even though his brothers did not believe in him. Maui's determination reminds me of some incredibly talented people who were told they would not succeed. Walt Disney, Oprah Winfrey, and Albert Einstien were all talented in their won way and set out to be great. If you were to become well known in this world, what would it be for? I think I would like to be remembered for being kind and generous.

What an awesome way to start the Summer Learning Journey, I am exited to read more of your posts.

    Have a lovely day Abby,
    Megan :)

What an awesome aspiration. I was a netball player when I was at school as well but I was aiming for the New Zealand Swimming team. I will be keeping an eye out for you on the Silver Fern's team.

Thank you for sharing your passion with me. Train hard and you will achieve your goal.

      Enjoy your day,
      Megan :)
